Clarrise McClellan is a seventeen-year old girl from Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451. As a supportive character, she is vastly alienated from society, preferring to reflect and ponder rather than engage in action-packed behaviour which the society portrayed in Farenheit 451 encourages. Guy Montag, the main protagonist, initially meeting her is disturbed by her attitude, but later she makes him realize how empty his life is, contrary to what society would have advocated. She shows him that he is no longer in love with his wife, Mildred, who is now a former shell of herself, wasting her life away either watching the "parlour walls", a sort of advanced television, or with the wireless "seashells" which broadcasts an audio network, coming to the realisation he hates his job. Soon after the two of them meet, Clarrise is hit by a speeding car and killed. Her family moves away, and Montag does not know this until his wife tells him.
