I just did an edit which (among other things) put each sentence on its own line in the source. This was a mistake, as it makes the diff look much worse than it really is. Sorry for the confusion. Content was actually only lightly edited.

Nickelodeon believed the show was drawing an innappropriate fanbase.

What did they think was "inappropriate" about these fans? --Camembert

Mainly that they were adult goth fans of Vasquez's comics, I guess. I think there are other reasons behind Zim being pulled, including that it's really quite depressing for a kids' show and, probably most significantly, it just didn't get a big enough audience to justify the extremely high costs of production (Nick spent a *lot* on Zim, hence the very high quality animation). suggestions for other character sketches - Tak and Keef. might do those myself if I feel like it. maybe some stuff on Vasquez in-jokes could be added (Z?, Fillerbunny et al). --AW
Hm, "inappropriate" sounds rather sinister to me, like these fans were, I don't know, alien fetishists or something (not that there's necessarily anything wrong with alien fetishism, of course...). Maybe it's just me, but could somebody maybe reword that to something a bit less creepy sounding? --Camembert
I've just took it (that sentence I quoted above) out - I think it raises more questions than it answers (not necessarily about alien fetishism, but... hm, maybe I should stop drinking). I'm sure if somebody has a quote or something from Nickelodeon, it can go back in with a more precise "reason" for it being pulled (though as you say, I'm sure it was more to do with ratings than anything else). --Camembert
