Kingham Hill School is a Christian school based on the Church of England denomination. It was founded by local Christian landowner Charles Edward Baring Young in 1886 as a school and home for deprived boys.

The school is on a Cotswold hilltop, near to the village of Kingham in Oxfordshire.

It is an independent fee paying boarding Public school. Baring Young also founded Oak Hill Theological College.

Recent Activities

The school Chapel celebrated its centenary year in 2003.

For the last ten years bar one, students have been going on an annual trip to Romania. They stay just outside a town called Sibiu, which is in the region of Transylvania. They have been going every year since 1994, except in 1999 when they went to Kenya.

There are currently six houses. Their location and use has changed over the years with them currently being as follows:

  • Greenwich was originally a senior boys house. Its tie colour was lilac/violet. It changed to a junior girls house and now holds senior as well as junior girls. This house is currently under renovation.
  • Severn is a senior girls house.
  • Norwich is a senior boys house. The colour of its tie is maroon.
  • Durham is a third senior boys house, and their tie colour is dark blue.
  • Bradford is a senior boys house, and their tie colour is Yellow.
  • Sheffield is usually a senior boys house. It is currently a Girl's house to house the Girls from Greenwich house, however with the refurbishing of 'Old' Greenwich nearly complete, the girls will be going back to this house next academic year to Severn House, and the boys will re-apply to get the chance to go back to Sheffield House.
