Hello Appleteam. If you would like, I can be your mentor. I have been around for over a year, and I have wanted to start helping others around here. I actually already have one adoptee, but I think I can handle a few more. Let me know if you'd like me to help. J-stan TalkContribs 22:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome! (We can't say that loudly enough!)

Hello, Appleteam, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay past the end of your project. Here are some pages you might find helpful:

If you have any questions or problems, no matter what they are, leave me a message on my talk page. Or, please come to the Mentors page, where you can find many experienced Wikipedians that can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Put links on your project page to your individual user pages. See Lirdoco's page as an example. Thanks! Thelmadatter 18:48, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter[reply]

Mentoring

Glad to be mentoring you. First of all, I'll need your usernames. Then we can get down to business. J-stan TalkContribs 19:47, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its not obvious but their usernames are above. Ladies... you need to move all this to your discussion page. Thelmadatter 20:13, 7 September 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter[reply]
OK, then, let's get down to business. First of all, if you haven't done so yet, add this page to your watchlist. Just click the tab that says "watch", and it will automatically add it. Watchlists are a great way to check up on edits that are being made to certain pages. Now, please read the five pillars of Wikipedia. All policies, guidelines, and your edits follow these. They are the fundamental principles of Wikipedia. Next, in addition to the pages User:Rockpocket left in their welcome message, you might want to take a look at the simplified ruleset before delving into the individual policies and guidelines (note: there are also "essays", but there are too many of those, and they also aren't official rules to be followed). Once you do that, let me know on this page. J-stan TalkContribs 02:53, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You mean you're watching this page :) Editing is pretty straightforward in itself: click "edit this page" at the top of the page and add content. But then there are rules, and you are reading them. If you want information on how to use talk pages, go to Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. That pretty much covers your comment on my page. Also, if you're already logged in, you don't need to type your username after the signature, as typing the four tildes adds your username and the current time. However, if you aren't logged in, you should probably log in before you edit. I noticed this in the 100 word essay on Thelmadatter's talk page. Mentoring

Hello Appleteam, I'm Neranei. I just wanted to let you know, that, if you want, I'd be happy to mentor you. Please tell me what you think! Love, Neranei (talk) 23:57, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder to Mentors and Students

Please remember to do all communication concerning work related to the course on this discussion page. It is the only page I can monitor and give students credit for doing their work. Thank you!!! Thelmadatter 13:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Topics that we are interested in

We are interested in writing about Mexicans states specifically in Cancun, Quintana Roo Mexico. We want to focus on the touristics places, beaches, enterteinment, sightseeings. We find this State is very important for Mexican economy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blueapple23 (talkcontribs) 18:30, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What you might want to do is google your subject, and you should find some travel guides. Write that info in your own words, and it should be ok. Some reading you might want to take a look at is Wikipedia:Your first article, and also WP:NOT#TRAVEL, so that you won't create something that could be deleted. J-ſtan!TalkContribs 18:58, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I assume this is appleteam's doing :) (please remember to sign in, guys). Well, it appears you already have a nav bar in your page. J-ſtan!TalkContribs 22:09, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion for discussion

The three contributions that students need to do next partial (~October) is to significantly edit an article, create a stub and translate an article from English Wikipedia for Spanish Wikipedia. Mentors, if you would be so kind as to look over the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Mexico, Wikipedia:WikiProject_Mexico and Category:Mexico_stubs pages to help students discuss and select projects to do in October. For more information, see the Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus page. Thank you! Thelmadatter 13:57, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does it have to be about mexico? because the students could take a look at CAT:STUB to find a subject that interests them and expand on it. J-ſtan!TalkContribs 00:41, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Topics

Hello, well we think that the article has to be about Mexico, but we are not sure, we will ask our teacher. We will also chek the link that you gave us. It would be really helful. We were aswering your comments in your talk page, but we think that we have to do all kind of interaction in this group page for now on. Re: Userboxes

Adding userboxes to your user page is one of the easiest things to do! All you have to do is find a userbox you like. For example:

This editor is a WikiGnome.

Now, you click the "edit this page" button, and find the template (it should look like this: {{x}}, where x is the name of the template). Just highlight it, hit CTRL+C to copy it (do not cut), and go back to the previous page. Sounds complicated, but it really takes about 5 seconds.
