Takeshi Yamamoto (沢田 綱吉/ツナ) is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Katekyo Hitman Reborn created by Amano Akira.

Character Outline

Takeshi is a little naive about the mafia and Tsuna's role in it. He generally beleivs that all Reborn's weapons are advanced kids toys. In the future arc he is shown to have learned everything about the mafia and seems to be ok with it.

History

Takeshi is a star athlete at his school and beleivs that that is almost everything that defines him. After being convinced otherwise by Tsuna they become friends.

His family owns a sushi restaurant called "Takesushi", which also happens to be his house.

Synopsis

Introduction Arc

Takeshi is the star of the school's baseball team who is the general nice and popular guy. He has a lot of love for the sport until one day he got his hopes up after some small talk with Tsuna and sprained his arm. He thought his career in baseball would go downhill from there and planned to end his life by jumping off the school roof but Tsuna rescues him.

After he is rescued he becoms Tsuna's good friend and joins Tsuna on his adventures during this arc.

Kokuyō Gang Arc

During the Kokuyo Arc, Takeshi is ranked 2nd as Namimori Junior High's strongest making him a target of Mukuro's gang. He easily took down his opponent, Ken but was later badly injured in his fight with Lanchia.

The Varia Arc

Takeshi is trained by his father in kendo. During his battle Takeshi fought Superbi Squalo for the right to bear the Ring of Rain. After an extensive, bloody sword fight, Takeshi won out in the end by using his newly created ninth form of the Shigure Souen Style, Mirroring Rain.

Future Arc

Future Takeshi

Nine years and ten months into the future, Takeshi is no longer the oblivious person he used to be. He is now an official subordinate of the Vongola Family, and has also advanced his sword skills, to the point that he can somehow summon rain when he uses his ring with one of the special boxes. He wears typical mafia clothing (a black suit), and also has a small scar on his chin. This scar could be from his battle with Superbi Squalo for the Vongola ring of Rain. In the future as he tells Tsuna about the war we learn that his father was killed. He was replaced by the younger Takeshi after someone fired the Ten-Year Bazooka at him in the past.

In the Future, the young Takeshi protects Haru and Lambo from a blast during during a fight with two mafiosi of the Millefiore Family. After they return to the base, he is very resolute about changing the future, although it appears that he has no idea what's really going on. At the beginning of Lal's training, although it took Hayato several tries to light the ring on fire, Takeshi drew out the ring's power in an instant, showing his determination.

Relationships

Takeshi is a very warm and accepting person and as such he makes friends very easily and is respected by everyone.

Tsuna

Takeshi counts Tsuna as his good friend and treats him like a very close friend. Allthough he is rather naive towards what is really happening during the series Takeshi fights for Tsuna and helps to protect him.

Gokudera

Takeshi and Gokudera are friends but have a rivalry going. Gokudera beleivs Takeshi is trying to become Tsuna's right hand man when in reality he is simply being his clueless self. They therefor push eachother to be their best and become stronger because of eachother.

Abilities

Takeshi uses a bat that Reborn gives him. The bat turns into a katana when swung faster than 300km/h, though he initially did not have much skill in using it. After coming up short in his first fight against Squalo, and then being told that he would just get in the way by Reborn, he asked his father for kendo lessons. What he did not know was that his father is as serious about kendo as much as Takeshi is serious about baseball; he uses his sword to kill. His father specializes in the Shigure Souen Style, which has eight forms (although he creates a ninth during his battle with Squalo), and is only shown once to the student. If the student is serious about using the sword, they only need to copy it once, and should remember how to use it from then on. Coincidentally, the Shigure Souen's eight forms all have rain in its names, further establishing Takeshi's right as the holder of the Ring of Rain. After completing his kendo training, his father gave him a shinai that could transform into a katana.

Shigure Souen Ryuu is a deadly skilled used of 8 forms, passed down to Takeshi from his own father while training the art of kendo. The 7th(Shibuki Ame) and 8th(Shino Tsuku Ame) forms were shown his battle with Squalo.

In the future, Takeshi shows a great level of mastery with the power of the Vongola rings. Even though the main rings were destroyed, he was still able to use the special box's and their unique powers.
