Template:Future The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 9th, in Las Vegas at The Palms. The VMAs will air live that evening at 9:00 p.m. ET on MTV.

MTV will broadcast a full week's worth of VMA programming, including exclusive performances from top artists.

On August 7th, the nominees were announced live on TRL with a special performance by Kanye West.

Background information

Amy Winehouse's record label has cancelled her performance for the show following Lily Allen's withdrawal from the show due to issues obtaining a visa. The two were rumored to perform a duet. [1]

There has been heavy speculation for weeks that Britney Spears will open the VMAs in a surprise performance featuring magic from Criss Angel, who told the press he was working with Britney for her "MTV performance". Spears will be in Las Vegas the week of the VMAs for a club opening, furthering the speculation.

On September 4th, when asked by a paparazzi "Are you getting ready for the VMAs", she nodded her head and replied "Trying", the video was posted by celebrity gossip site X17Online.com on September 5th. On September 6th, the performance was finally confirmed as official by MTV.com. According to Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer of this year's VMAs, Spears will open the show with her new single from her yet-untitled fifth album "Gimme More".

MTV2 On The Rise Contest Winners

Flowers for Dorian won the MTV2 On The Rise contest. The prize for winning is getting flown to New York City to film 5 live videos in front of a green screen. The 5 videos will be on Comcast's On Demand and one of the videos will premiere at the VMA's. Flowers for Dorian's video for the song Love Remains will premiere at the VMA's.
