Ismail Matar is a professional footballer who has represented the United Arab Emirates internationally.

He was awarded the Golden Ball at the 2003 World Youth Championships after being voted the tournament's best player even though the UAE only reached the quarter finals. He is best known for leading the UAE to their first ever trophy, the 2007 Gulf Cup, which was held in Abu Dhabi. Matar scored 5 goals in 5 games, picking up both the best player and top scorer's trophies. He has since achieved a hero status in the UAE. Matar has also gotten offers from various european clubs around the world.

A child was named after him after he scored the winning goal in a match for the U.A.E against Oman [1]
