Story

Juken Sentai Gekiranger

Four thousand years ago, in China, a form of Kenpo martial arts was developed, the Beast-Fist (獣拳, Jūken) style in which one that practices this fighting style could mimic the abilities of animals as well as reach spiritual peace. By present time, two opposing schools of the Beast-Fist martial arts were established: One is the Fierce Beast-Fist Beast Arts, the Beast Fist of Justice whose sport discipline enhances the human body. It is taught by Grand Master Sha-Fu, one of the seven Fist Saints, using a sports goods company named "SCRTC" as a front. The evil form of the Beast-Fist style is known as Confrontation Beast-Fist Akugata created by the Three Fist Demons that had long been dead since the GekiRin Rebellion that marked the start of the two schools' long war. One master of the Confrontation Beast Fist-style, Rio, rebuilds the Confrontation Beast Hall with intent on world domination with an army of martial artists brought back from the dead. To fight the Confrontation Beast Hall, Sha-Fu had been training two youths: Ran Uzaki, and Retsu Fukami. Along with the wild boy raised in the forest, Jan Kandou, the Gekiranger team is formed, they confront Rio and his army of kyonshi soldiers.[7][8][9][10]

Fierce Beast-Fist Beast Arts

The Fierce Beast-Fist Beast Arts (激獣拳ビーストアーツ, Geki Jūken Bīsuto Ātsu) is the school of Beast-Fist that the Gekirangers practice. It is founded by the legendary seven Fist Saints (拳聖, Kensei), one of whom is mentor to the Gekirangers.

Jan Kandou (漢堂 ジャン, Kandō Jan) / GekiRed (ゲキレッド, GekiReddo)
The "Unbreakable Body" (「アンブレイカブル・ボディ」, Anbureikaburu Bodi), a practitioner of Fierce Beast Tiger-Fist (激獣タイガー拳, Gekijū Taigāken) who was raised by tigers in the mountains and relies on his brute strength in battle. Because of his upbringing, he has his own terms for various concepts that are used in the titles of episodes. His strong point is his "Body" (, Tai, also pronounced as Karada), but does not know much about "Heart" as he was raised by animals.
Ran Uzaki (宇崎 ラン, Uzaki Ran) / GekiYellow (ゲキイエロー, GekiIerō)
The "Honest Heart" (「オネスト・ハート」, Onesuto Hāto), a practitioner of Fierce Beast Cheetah-Fist (激獣チーター拳, Gekijū Chītāken) who grew up in a dojo and relies on her speed and fists in battle. She is the most straightlaced member of the team, and was chosen by Master Elehung to learn the ball and chain techniques of Fierce Beast Elephant-Fist (激獣エレファント拳, Gekijū Erefantoken) which made her more happy and funloving. Her strong point is "Heart" (, Shin, also pronounced as Kokoro), but does not pay attention to details which makes her "Technique" poor.
Retsu Fukami (深見 レツ, Fukami Retsu) / GekiBlue (ゲキブルー, GekiBurū)
The "Fantastic Technique" (「ファンタスティック・テクニック」, Fantasutikku Tekunikku), a practitioner of Fierce Beast Jaguar-Fist (激獣ジャガー拳, Gekijū Jagāken) who had a career as an artist but now puts beauty into his fighting. He impressed Master Bat Li and was taught the war-fan techniques of Fierce Beast Bat-Fist (激獣バット拳, Gekijū Battoken). His strong point is his "Technique" (, Gi, also pronounced as Waza), but does not train as much physically making his "Body" poor.

Confrontation Beast-Fist Akugata

Confrontation Beast-Fist Akugata (臨獣拳アクガタ, Rin Jūken Akugata) is the opposing school of Beast-Fist that gets energy from the suffering of others created by the Three Fist Demons (三拳魔, Sankenma). The main school is known as the Confrontation Beast Hall (臨獣殿, Rin Jū Den), where all of the dead users are brought back to the world of the living.[11]

Rio (理央, Rio)
The leader of the Confrontation Beast Hall who is a Confrontation Beast Lion-Fist (臨獣ライオン拳, Rinjū Raionken) expert. He was originally a Fierce Beast-Fist artist under the tutelage of Sha-Fu, but severed his ties in exchange for power used by those of the Akugata. Most of his past is unknown, even to himself.
Mele (メレ, Mere)
A user of Confrontation Beast Chameleon-Fist (臨獣カメレオン拳, Rinjū Kamereonken). She was the first of the Rinrinshi brought back from the dead by Rio and has pledged her heart to him.

Notes

Template:Ent "Gekiranger" (ゲキレンジャー, Gekirenjā) is a portmanteau of the Japanese words for "fierce" (激(ゲキ), geki) and "ranger" (レンジャー, renjā). However, it may be related to "Geki" (激気, Geki), the name for the chi-like energy utilized by the Gekirangers.
