The Republic of South Vietnam was a Communist government formed by the VietCong in 1975.

It should not be confused with the anti-Communist U.S.-supported Republic of Vietnam, which was established in 1954 and which fell in 1975). Nor should it be confused with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, which was formed by the union of North and SOuth Vietnam in 1976.
