The Hanselman Sextuplets

The Family

Jennifer Hanselman, and husband Keith Hanselman, along with son Connor, (2 year old at the time) welcomed their six new family members at 9:42 a.m. on February 26, 2004. The couple is from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (A suburb of Akron, Ohio, in Summit County.) Jennifer was 29 at the time of birth and she worked as an advertising copywriter for Jo-Ann Stores Inc. She has since become a full time mom using her spare time to write a book about her experiences raising her children. Keith was 30 years old at the time of the birth and is a chemist at Ben Venue Laboratories. When the babies were born the couple had been marries Married 7 1/2 years and had one son named Connor.

The Birth

The babies were the first set of sextuplets to be born in Ohio and were all born in one minute. They were born at Akron General Medical Center, but were transfered to Akron Children's Hospital, as planned, shortly after the birth. There were 34 staff members in two separate suites involved in the delivery of the sextuplets at Akron General Medical Center. These included 12 registered nurses (two per baby), plus two RNs attending to the mother Jennifer Hanselman and at least four circulating RNs; six respiratory therapists; three nurse practitioners; six neonatologists; one perinatologist; one resident; one anesthesiologist; and two X-ray technicians.

The sextuplets include: Isabella Jean - 2 lbs. 10 oz. Sophia Ivy - 1 lb. 9 oz. Kyle Allen - 2 lbs. 6 oz. Logan James - 2 lbs. 8 oz. Alex Edwin - 2 lbs. 8 oz. Lucy Arlene - 2 lbs. 1 oz.

The fist baby was sent home on April 20, 2004 (Lucy Arlene) and the last was sent home on May 11, 2004(Sophia Ivy.)


Where are they now

The children are currently enroled in a preschool 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. They are all developing well and do not have medical issues do to their high-risk birth.
