Dating coaches offer their services to men and women who want to improve their success in dating and relationships. A dating coach guides his clients on various aspects of meeting and attracting long-term partners and meeting better-suited (more compatible) prospects.

Adults, often challenged by the demands of work, limited time and no formal training in the area relationship building can experience difficulties inf finding dating and romance success. Dating coaches help people obtain more social and sexual success by drawing on their own knowledge of relationships, interpersonal skills, dating, flirting, verbal and non-verbal communications, psychology, sociology and compatibility.

"Call it flirting or just good people skills, your ability to understand people, adapt to their unique communication style, and relate to them in a convincing, authentic way will let you succeed where others fail." [1] Brian Norris, a dating and romance coach based in Chicago, IL.

A growing industry of Pick-up Artists, as popularized by Neil Strauss in his book, The Game, also look at dynamics such as neuro linguistic programming (NLP), theories of persuasion, history, and evolutionary biology, as well as body language, humor and common street smarts.

Program content varies from one coach to another; however, the central focus of most programs is emphasis on confident and congruent communication of verbal and non-verbal messages. Coaches may also include complementary topics such as fashion advice or suggestions for recreational pursuits as part of their services.

Methods of delivery typically include electronic books, one-on-one coaching, small group seminars, or weekend workshops. Workshops usually combine informal lectures with excursions through night-time hotspots, where the coaches demonstrate some effective ways of approaching members of the opposite sex. At first, clients learn by observing. Very quickly the clients find themselves initiating and participating in dialogue with desirable strangers.

This industry is particularly active in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. [citation needed]
