The Almost

The Almost is a alternative rock band from Clearwater, Florida, most notable for being the side project of The Christian Metal band Underoath drummer/singer Aaron Gillespie.

Southern Weather

The debut record released on April 3, 2007, Southern Weather, was recorded in February and March of 2006. The first single, "Say This Sooner", can be heard at The Almost's PureVolume and MySpace pages, along with "I Mostly Copy Other People" and the demo version of "Never Say I Told You So" (Originally named "They Say You Can Never Write I Told You So In A Song But Here I Go"). Aaron recorded every instrument on the album (except for bass on a couple of songs, with which Kenny Vasoli from The Starting Line helped).

The Almost released their first video for "Say This Sooner" on March 19, 2007. The video premiered on MTV2's UNLEASHED, which ran all day long on the hour. The video is also available on MTV2's website. The video deals with Aaron Gillespie transporting through time with a special device called the iScape (a portmanteau of the words "iPod" and "escape").

The Almost embarked on the "It's All Happening" tour from December 17th to January 20th, 2006 joined by Jay Vilardi (guitar), Dusty Redmon(guitar), Alex Aponte (bass) and Kenny Bozich (drums). In addition to singing lead vocals in The Almost, Aaron Gillespie also plays occasional guitar live. The tour showcased new songs from the upcoming disc Southern Weather.

Since The Almost has started the band has reached over 2,000,000 plays on their myspace music page and the band's song of "Say This Sooner" has reached number one most played on all of purevolume.com.

History

Early Years

There is no definite date as to when Aaron Gillespie started The Almost, He made a music space for The Almost on October 1, 2005. He made his music page even before he had released any music to the public.

On October 4, 2005 at 11:59PM he released two of his songs which were the demos for "I Mostly Like To Copy Other People" and "They Say You Can Never Write...".

Aaron worked with Kenny Vasoli (The Starting Line) to record a song called "Yule Be Sorry" for Happy Christmas volume 4 on Tooth & Nail Records. It was in stores on October 25th, 2005.

On November 7, 2006 The Almost released their first song off their first album on the Tooth & Nail podcast. The song was called "Johnny Cash" but since then the song name has been switched to "Southern Weather" but now is called "Say This Sooner" Also the band has been confirmed to the Warped Tour 2007 tour.

Aaron wrote all of the songs himself while recording Define the Great Line with Underoath

Members

Aaron Gillespie has written every piece of music for The Almost and recorded all instruments on the debut album "Southern Weather". These members are currently Aaron's live band and have not yet appeared on any albums under this moniker.
