The Definition of X: The Pick of The Litter is going be the 7th studio album of multi-platinum selling rapper and actor, DMX (Earl Simmons). it was originally to be named the Dog. The only confirmed track 'Back Like That' was scheduled for one of X's 5 albums at Def Jam but was held off after he left the label to join Sony. Simmons claimed that this track would make hip-hop history but stated that he was ignored.

Possible "Spellbound" Release

The rumour of whether of not the track 'Spellbound' will appear is somewhat of a mystery as the rapper had mentioned that he would like it to feature in his last 3 albums at Sony. 'Spellbound', the hit from K-Solo was claimed by X to be stolen when the two rappers met in jail a few years before X was signed. Kevin 'K-Solo' Madison took a test on a lie detector and the results went in favour of DMX. Swizz Beatz (X's long term friend and President of Ruff Ryders) showed concern over the possibility of infringing copyright.

"Born Loser" Again?

According to DMX's autobiography (E.A.R.L), X felt that his first single, "Born Loser" was not promoted well enough. Swizz Beatz (Ruff Ryders' President), when asked about X's last three albums at Sony, said that unreleased tracks were a likely possibility. For those who have followed Simmons' career will recognise that he has always expressed an interest in re-releasing it.

The Return of Gotti

After the end of X's beef with Ja Rule, options opened up to whether or not Irv Gotti could possibly contribute to the production of the album as X said that the beef was ended "in respect to Gotti". Also; even throughout the beef, on 'Street Wars', DMX said "Gotti's my man" despite the controversy between X and Ja who Irv describes as 'his brother'.

The artists that will likely appear, or are rumoured to appear, on The Definition Of X, The Pick Of The Litter are: Jadakiss, Styles P, Drag-On, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Swizz Beatz, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, The Game, Yung Wun and Big Stan.

'The Definition Of X, The Pick Of The Litter' was scheduled for release on 4th June 2007, but has been held off until the Fall.
