Template:Pop-wikify 1973 saw the formation of a new band in Toronto Ontario called Max Webster, fronted by Kim Mitchell on guitar and lead vocals, Terry Watkinson on Keyboards, Paul Kersey on drums and Mike Tilka on bass. Max Webster had a cult following in the bar circuit in Toronto and Souhtern Ontario and released a self titled album in 1975 that garnered the band some major success, constant touring and wild stage shows combined with mind bending guitars and lyrics penned by the 5th(but unseen)member of Max Webster, named Pye Dubois.1977 saw the follow up to the success of the first album with "High Class In Borrowed Shoes",another instant hit album for Max, spawning FM radio friendly songs such as Diamonds, Diamonds. Max was signed to America's MERCURY/POLYGRAM label, the same label that RUSH was signed to, as Rush and Max toured together, despite playing huge venues with Rush and demand for their records, Mercury Records was not shipping or promoting the band, so they got dumped, only to get picked up by CAPITOL-EMI for the next 3 Lps "Mutiny Up My Sleeve", the radio friendly "A Million Vacations" and "Live Magnetic Air", Max again was facing difficulties getting records to there fans as U.S. labels did not see Max as being a million selling band, so little promotion, despite already selling 5 gold and or platinum selling records in Canada. 1980 saw the release of "Universal Juveniles", Max's biggest album to date, the band was on their way to major success internationally when, Mitchell pulled the plug on the band in the middle of a major US tour. 1988 saw the release of the "Best Of Max Webster" released and in 2002, Universal Music released another greatest hits package, both of which sold well.
