Samuel Castelán Marini (born May 7, 1985 in Zentla, Veracruz, Mexico) is a singer and composer who won the 5th generation of the popular Mexican reality singing show La Academia. He describes himself as someone friendly and happy, interesting and authentic.

However, more importantly his contribution to the musicality of the show La Academia was demonstrated when he composed 'Generacion de la Luz'. This song became the Sunday anthem for the Academy students who were expulsed each Sunday; he has also performed and composed another song dedicated to his native Mexico tittled 'Gracias Mexico'which he had the pleasure to perform in his native province of Veracruz.

Samuel demonstrated how a student can succeed through hard work, constancy, how his inate talent grew with the progression of the show La Academia through discipline and above all effort, which was clearly reflected on the Academia stage each Sunday.

Personal life

During his stay at La Academia, he was involved in a "love triangle" with Rocio Colette Acuña Calzada and Karla Renata Rodriguez Barajas (4th place winner) Samuel confessed that he felt attraction to both, Colette and Renata, but he later confirmed that his heart belonged to Colette. Colette also confessed that she felt a strong attraction towards Samuel but nothing serious happened between them. Nevertheless, their behavior hinted that there may have been something more between them.
