Jorge Antonio Cafrune (Jujuy , August 8th 1937 - Buenos Aires , February 1st 1978 ) was a one of the more populars argentinianfolklorist singers of his time, aside from be a unflagging investigator, compilator and diffuser of the native culture.
His life
Jorge Cafrune borned in the estancy "La Matilde" of El Sunchal , Perico Del Carmén , Jujuy . He make your secundary studies in San Salvador de Jujuy while he took guitar classes with Nicolas Lamadrid.
In 1957 he recorded his first disk with your band "Las Voces de Huayra" that in 1960 changed your name for "Los cantores del Alba" with Ariel Ramirez as manager, who them took to various trips. To beggining from 1962 , Cafrune have began to shown on the Cosquin Folkloric Festival . In 1966 in one of your trips to little towns he met to a young folklorist singer called José Larralde .
In 1967 shown the trip "De caballo por mi patria" in homege to Chacho Peñaloza . In this trip Cafrune traveled the country like the old gauchos taking your art and mesages around the country.
In 1977 , after various years living in Spain he returned to his country. Were very hard times for the Argentina because the governemt was in military dictatorship of Jorge Rafael Videla . This governemt had menaced to Cafrune because he did sing a forbid song called Zamba de mi ezperanza. The militarys decided kill Cafrune and the oportunitie came on january 31th of 1978, when the lieutenant coronel Carlos Enrique Villanueva ordered to kill to Cafrune to a young man of 20 years, who him shoked with a van while Cafrune mounted a horse. Cafrune died the next day. The event never was illustrious and for the justice was an accident.
