What U.S new episodes of one piece will show on Toonami on february 3?Shirleybiscuit

Work in progress

Bare with me for a few days, this is work in progress. I apologise for the poor page standards and will work to get this up to Wikipedia's stands ASAP. Angel Emfrbl 08:12, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV Edit

This article was way too POV; I'll spare you the details (compare edit versions if you want to see specifics), but suffice to say that "for no apparent reason", "supposed", and links to websites called "Moogle Cavern" and "Anime Cauldron" do not belong on Wikipedia. I realize bold edits like this one cause debates, so if you have a problem with my edit (beyond an honest mistake on my part, of course), please bring it up here instead of reverting the entire page. -67.163.21.39 06:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That was me. -Unknownwarrior33 06:30, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've written them down as commentary instead, which is what they were orginally written down as when the info on this page was on the main One Piece page. Don't know if that helps. The bit from Moogle Cavern is gone now. I reread that one and agreed with you. The Anime Cauldron one brings up a few points that we can't write here and voices a fan opinion of the series. For reference sake its needed, as its one opinion of the series. The one about the differences between the verisons, again needed for the 'edits' bit to support or show what has been edited. The interview with Mr Kahn is arguable whether it is needed or not I'll agree that. [[User:Angel Emfrbl|
What's Wikipedia's policy on dealing with a large chunk of POV info? It has info but it's POV, so is it a delete or change? We COULD try to add in some praise as well. But findign praise for it is VERY hard.
So take my other suggestion... Remove 'critism' or rename it.  ;) Angel Emfrbl 13:03, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I tried to expand on the critism a little without going too deep and loosing it neutrality, I kept it as basic as I could and didn't nit-pick on what the details of any critism from fans are. It is difficult to handle and I'm tempting now just to say 'forget it we should leave that bit out'. There is also the possiblitiy of renaming it from 'Critism' to 'Fan reaction' which would allow us to write a bit more, but then the section gets away from a neutral stance so again I'm not sure on that. I also seperated the misc information from the critism bit. Angel Emfrbl 10:13, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is 4Kids dub over? Darien Shields 01:54, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. As the person who was sent that e-mail, I can confirm that this is true. Yashouzoid

The problem is that a forum post isn't a reliable source. I'm not sure why ANN would cite it.--69.141.190.230 06:49, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I must admit, I am somewhat leaning towards saying this whole thing may not be as true as we've all been led to believe... But not the end of 4Kids One Piece. Its not unknown for a company to change its mind, since sales on DVDs and TV ratings were fairly high and this is with the protests coming from the fans of the Japanese version. Plus on top of it, there were voice actors selected for the pirates carnival game that have not been yet seen in the dub. Would 4Kids choose these guys to do voice acting without intendsion to actually use them for the character?
Plus many new episodes appeared in the UK America hasn't seen yet, that sort of thing doesn't happen. Usually some time after the UK, when it is lucky enough to get them before America, it is shown in the US. Its also not unknown for TV companies to have breaks in airings while a series produces more episodes or other stuff. I've seen it before. 4Kids is not a company who would simply drop a successful series and everything after dubbing so much. I'd go on but there are forums to talk about such stuff like this. I'm just pointing out things are not always what we are led to believe. Angel Emfrbl 07:09, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas must be early.Anyway to the critisism,or more importanly to the left "apendeges riped off"-Shanks losing an arm is SO vital in the series (on a lesse scale as Zeff, they probably couldnt figure out any other reason why he would stop being a pirate) that they just Couldnt edit it out without geting Oda seriously mad.New Babylon

Question

Why did 4 kids stop doing the one piece english version now and not wait to 2009 when the license expires?shirleybiscuit

If they did, it was because it was costing more money to produce then it was bringing in, in terms of merchandise and television revenue. Same reason any other show gets canceled. Right now, the only indication on our hands that they have stopped the English production is a forum post on the toonzone forums.--130.156.198.72 02:36, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Why in one piece there were more violence like references to death, a gunshot and blood if it was by 4 kids for the younger kids?Shirleybiscuit

I'm not quite getting at your question here?... Overall 4Kids seemed to have brought the series for its populaurity (one of the most) not its contents. It was a show for kids (but not their age rating I might add) which is why they had to 'correct' that part through all the edits. At the time, it was showing on a channel that doesn't allow the ref. to Death - Full Stop! It went over to being shown on Cartoon Network after that. The rules on that channel were slightly more relaxed.
I guess that could be the reason, others may be they just were slipping up or got lazier or it got expensive to make so many edits. But those would be speculations. If you ask at forums, you'll probaberly get more answers outside of that. That sort of thing is a question more for that kind of site. Arlong Park would probaberly be the best site to ask, if not there are others you can find out there. Angel Emfrbl 08:10, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia's guidelines

First of all, Wikipedia is not a soapbox. This place is for discussing the article itself, not the article's subject.

Secondly, Wikipedia is not for original research. A forum post talking about an e-mail is not a reliable source, especially when so many people want 4Kids to stop dubbing, no matter how many people claim they got it. Every source I've seen is traced to the forum post. We should not say that the English production has officially halted until 4Kids sends out a press release, or removes the show from http://wwww.4KidsEntertainment.com I mean, when they dropped Pokémon, they gave a formal announcement to it, and removed the show from their site as soon as they lost the rights. However, OP still remains, and I have yet to see an official source confirming the cancellation.

So what I'm saying is, stop putting in the article that it is officialy cancelled like you are 100% certain. Use words like "supposedly" and "presumably". If anyone else tries to say it's done for sure, I will probably put a vandalism warning. Matty-chan 20:28, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Someone who talks some sense! This is what I've been at recently, everyone JUMPED to conclusions, however part of me can't accept a forum post. I've been saying it on wikipedia and on fan forums. There is NO WAY a employee would just release a e=mail like that. For one - I've NEVER got any e-mail I'VE sent back from them. And I've sent quite a few asking for info on the series. Angel Emfrbl 21:19, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
...You, my friend, are a dream come true (and by that I simply mean I didn't think I'd ever meet someone who talks sense). I have gone through the article and altered everything I could to stop it from seeming that the show is officially cancelled. I almost got into an edit war on the 4Kids Entertainment article when we were categorizing it. I've been going around fixing all this stuff, and putting up vandalism notes. Question

Why did one piece episodes 77-104 show only in the UK but not in the US?Shirleybiscuit

I have no idea... Sometimes we get episodes of shows ahead of the US. It happened a few times with Teen Titans. Aside from experiment and reaction testing, I can't think of any explaination why we got them first. The other explaination I can think of, is something happened and the channel showing it in the US either ran out its license to show it sooner, or simply had scheduled something else in its place sooner. But I can guess all I want. Perhaps if you used a forum for these discussions, you'd get more ideas. But to date I can tell you at least this much here on Wikipedia - There is explaination known as to why it happened. Angel Emfrbl 10:03, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
