Guimarães is a city in northwestern Portugal, in the province of Minho, and in Braga district. On Portugal it is known as the place where Portugal has been born.

Guimarães city is made of 16 parishes and a populaltion of 70000 the Municipality has 158572 and 68 parishes.

It is one of the most industrial municipalities in Portugal, the most important industries are textile and metalomechanics.

It has a campus of the Universidade do Minho.

The center of the city was declared world heritage by UNESCO.

Vitória SC (also known as Guimarães) is a football club based in this city.
