Paramanandayya Sishyulu (English: Paramanandayya's Disciples) is a 1950 Telugu folklore comedy film, produced and directed by Kasturi Siva Rao under the Allied Productions banner.[2] It stars Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Lakshmi Rajyam, C.S.R. in the lead roles and music jointly composed by Ogirala Ramachandra Rao and Susarla Dakshinamurthi.[3] The film was remade, again in Telugu with the same title (1966), starring N. T. Rama Rao, K. R. Vijaya in pivotal roles.[4][5]

Plot

Once upon a time, there was a kingdom Kalinga, ruled by Vijayasena but his younger brother Prachandasena (Gadepalli Ramaiah) a crooked & cruel person who is avarice to conquer his brother's kingdom. Vijayasena has a daughter Leela (Lakshmi Rajyam) whereas Prachandasena has a son Udayasena (Narayana Rao) and a daughter Hema (Girija) who are good at nature. One night Prachandasena tries to eliminate his brother but he is protected by an unknown person in the veil and takes him to a safe place. After that, Prachandasena occupies the throne and creates a lot of atrocities. Due to which many people leave the kingdom, starts living in the forest along with the king's archbishop Paramanandayya (C.S.R). Paramanandayya segregates all of them together as disciples and makes a hamlet. Meanwhile, in the fort, a wrestling competition is conducted in which a young & energetic guy Chandrasena (Akkineni Nageswara Rao) wins when Prachandasena is about to honor him, he comes to know Chandrasena is the son of a revolutionary leader who has been exiled from the kingdom. So, he makes him arrested. Leela is attracted to Chandrasena and meets him secretly in the prison. Prachandasena notices it, becomes furious and troubles Leela. Again the unknown person in a veil resues Chandrasena. Leela & Hema also escape from the fort in men's attire with the help of their loyal servant Avataram (Kasturi Siva Rao) and they settle in a cowherds colony.

Parallelly, Vijayasena takes shelter at Paramanandayya's hamlet where he leaves his last breath. Before dying, he reveals a secret regarding a hidden treasure to Paramanandayya. Eventually, Chandrasena in search of Leela reaches Paramanandayya and accompanies them. On the other side, Paramanandayya's disciples create a lot of nuisance. After a few comic incidents, Paramanandayya feels pity to their innocence, leaves that place and settles in cowherds colony where he meets Leela and recognizes her as the princess. Knowing about her father's death she feels sad and Chandrasena consoles her. Now Paramanandayya decides to get back the kingdom where he plans a plot by writing a letter to Prachandasena in the name of Leela regarding the hidden secret treasure. Greedy Prachandasena reaches there along with his army and Chandrasena along with the disciples attack them. Fortunately, the veiled man also reaches there, he stabs out Prachandasena and he too hits him. Before dying, Prachandasena removes his veil and recognizes him as his son Udeyasena. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage and crowning ceremony of Chandrasena & Leela.
