The Decennial Mineral Exploration Conferences (DMEC) is a voluntary association dedicated to the advancement of geoscience applied to exploration for mineral resources. The founding session in 1957 was titled "Methods and Case Histories in Mining Geophysics", and was held as part of the Sixth Commonwealth Mining and Metallurgical Congress (now the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum). While the original session focussed of mining geophysics, the purpose of subsequent conferences expanded to include geochemistry, and other geoscience disciplines as they are applied in mineral exploration.

Conferences have been held in Canada every 10 years since 1957, and attended by delegates from around the world. The organizing committee publishes the proceedings for the benefit of the global exploration community, with the intention that the work represents a 10-year perspective of the state of applied geoscience in mineral exploration.
