Launched on 24 July 2009, the site is run by its founder Katy Cowan and includes general articles, features, tips and inspiration pieces under Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Video, Travel and Lifestyle.

Creative Boom also has its own jobs board where people can list vacancies, including full-time, part-time, freelance and contract positions.

On 4 November 2011, Creative Boom became part of The Guardian's new Culture Professionals Network - [1] one of many professional networks available on the national newspapers' website.

History

Creative Boom[2] was launched on 24 July 2009 and created by Boomerang, a UK-based PR agency.[3]

The idea for Creative Boom came about after its founder Katy Cowan spoke to other freelancers and small businesses on Twitter and realised there was a need for creative support online. Somewhere people could gain free exposure, support and learning about all things creative.

Since its inception, Creative Boom has been recognised and supported by brands such as Yahoo, Samsung and Vimeo. It has been featured on BBC 6Music and has appeared in various national press, including The Independent, Computer Arts and The Guardian.

Staff

Creative Boom is run by its founder Katy Cowan, a trained journalist and writer from Manchester, UK, along with a team of contributors.
