S. Sripal is the former Director General of Police (DGP) of Chennai.[2]
He was born in a Tamil Jain family and he is the chairman of the Research Foundation For Jainology.[1] He is also the convener for the Study Group, State Planning Commission, Tamil Nadu and a Visiting Professor at the University of Chennai.
On March 25, 2014, Sripal died after suffering chest pain.He is survived by his son Shreyas Sripal, Wife Mrs.Kamalie Sripal (Editor of Gokulam Kathir) and 2 daughters .
Professional career
As the chairman of the Research Foundation of Jainology, Sripal has contributed to the propagation and study of Jainism. He has created a full-fledged Department of Jainology where students can pursue M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees.[3]
