The Sun Comes Out World Tour[1] (originally believed to be known as Tour of Earthly Delights[2][3][4][5] and advertised as Shakira: Live in Concert) is the fifth concert tour by Colombian singer-songwriter, Shakira. The tour is in support of her sixth and seventh studio albums, She Wolf and Sale El Sol, where the release of her seventh album will collide with the tour.[6] The tour will reach Americas and Europe.
Background
In November 2009, Shakira announced a contest to feature unsigned bands and/or singers to be featured as an opening act for her upcoming tour.[7] The tour was officially announced in May 2010 with dates in North America. The singer describes the tour as being "energetic" and "interactive" stating,[5]
"It's going to have themes and there'll be a lot of audience interaction. My live show will have a lot of that - a lot of dancing, a joie de vivre. I feel such freedom on stage. It's such a rush to be performing. I like to see everybody's faces on stage, to see the reaction. [...] So you'll see a lot of [my] energy... but there are also going to be other moments that I hope are artistically energetic. I want people to feel things up close," she finished.
The tour began with a rehearsal date at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec before officially commencing at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.[8]
The Pop Festival
Shakira will reach Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Republica Dominicana, and Venezuela on February and March 2011 as part of "The Pop Festival" a festival which is produced by her and will have special guests. So far, only 2 shows are confirmed.
Occurances
There have been three separate incidents of fans rushing the stage while Shakira was performing on stage. The third of these rushers fell over on her way to Shakira. Shakira has gained both criticism and praise for helping the fan up and giving her a hug before security escorted her out. [9] The first stage rush did not end so happily however, and the man got rugby tackled on the stage by security before being escorted off. After her sold out performance at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Shakira gave an impromptu performance on top of a car and invited fans to join her in her dancing.[10]
Opening acts
In November 2009, Shakira conducted a contest for aspiring artists to upload a video to her official websites. Here, fans will vote on their favorite video. The act featured will perform as her opening act. [11] However, the outcome of the contest was not revelaed and the tour has yet to feature an opening act.

Critical reception
T'Cha Dunlevy (The Montreal Gazette) praised Shakira's performance at the Bell Centre stating, "Shakira is refreshingly unselfconscious on stage. Yes, she makes all the right moves, but she also has fun, and her energy is infectious. […] If this was the rehearsal, we can only imagine the real deal."[24]
Jon Pareles (The New York Times) called the performance at the Madison Square Garden "crowd pleasing". He continued to say, "Shakira used her quick-changing voice, which could shift, phrase by phrase, among breathy innocence, sultry belting and quavering, sharpened taunts. And she used her body, with a girlish grin and dance moves of finely calibrated sensuality: angular hip twitches and smooth slow-motion swivels, chest thrusts and sinuous wrist turns, as if her every joint rotates 360 degrees."[25]
Jim Abbott (The Orlando Sentinel) describes Shakira's performance at the Amway Arena as "frisky", further stating, "Although the preferred temperature for the evening was caliente, Shakira opened the night with an almost reverential tone. Dressed in a flowing pink gown and matching shawl, she emerged in the midst of the audience and marched in a slow processional to the stage, posing for pictures as she sang the haunting “Pienso En Ti."[26]
Mikael Wood (The Los Angeles Times) also praised Shakira after her performance at the Staples Center, describing her as "a midriff-baring social strategist, [who] was carrying out a plan, skillfully and with no shortage of superstar charisma."[27]
Isabel Betancourt (The Celebrity Cafe) states that "Despite the compromise between current and new albums, it was a thrilling evening with a humble mega star. Shakira’s 'Sun Comes Out' made the weekend brighter for thousands of South Floridians on Saturday and the only sadness felt came when it came to an end." [28]
