"Wasted"
Song

"Wasted" is a song from Carrie Underwood's album Some Hearts. It was confirmed as the next single from the Some Hearts album.

It started receiving country radio airplay as an album track, causing it to chart on the US Country chart weeks before its official release as a single.

On the 28th January 2007, Carrie filmed the video for her latest single 'Wasted' in Tampa, FL. This is now her fourth music video, and it was released during the first part of February. The music video premired on CMT Loaded.com. Critics are hailing it as the best video and song that Underwood has released thus far.

Song Meaning

"Wasted" deals with themes of alcoholism. The song has two characters who each have to stop the addiction from ruining their lives. The lyrics read "I don't want to spend my life jaded, waiting to wake up one day and find that I've let all these years go by wasted." It has so far peaked at number 27 on the Country Airplay Chart on allaccess.com and at number 14 on the Billboard Hot Country songs. However, the single was not officially released to radio until February 6, 2007.

For Underwood's fourth music video from her debut album Some Hearts, she appears in different sceneries, such as a house, a beach, and what it appears to be woodland. A man is also featured in the video, who fits the character dealing with the theme of the song. The music video is in complete black & white format, and it was released in early February, sooner than expected, thanks to the song's radio success. A shortened version of the song is used in the video, cutting out almost a full minute of the song.
