Bigg Boss (Hindi TV series) season 6: Difference between revisions

Salman Khan presented the sixth series as the main host for the season.

Bigg Boss 6 is the sixth and current season of the Indian reality TV show Bigg Boss, which is telecast on the TV channel Colors. The season started from 7 October 2012. Salman Khan, who was the host of the previous two seasons, returned as the host for the show. The sixth season was launched as a Parivarik season with a Gujarati tagline- Alag che! (English: It's different). The producers claimed that the contestants on Bigg Boss 6 will be presented with a cleaner, more "family like image".

During the launch on 7 October, fourteen selected housemates entered the Bigg Boss house located in Lonavla, a hill station, about 100 kilometres east of Mumbai in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The season also introduced selection of one housemate via audition chosen from among the common non-celebrity people of India. The housemates will spend 90 days locked together under the supervision of 70 cameras fitted around the house.

The House

The purpose built house is located at Lonavla, Maharashtra. It is designed by renowned art director Sabu Cyril. The house is built over an area of 15000 square feet. Featuring a more subtle and home-like feel with shades of red and white, it follows a completely different look from the previous year's house.

Karishma Kotak	30	Karishma Kotak is a London and Indian – based model best known for her work as the Kingfisher Girl. She has also appeared in a number of other commercials.
Kashif Qureshi	31	Martial Artist. The only non-celebrity, selected to represent the "common man" chosen via auditions held across India.

Weekly Summary

	Task	Housemates have to balance a scale by continuously pouring water into a leaking bucket while two housemates sit on the other side as weights.
	Happenings	Day 1: The fifteen participants were asked to make seven pairs of two each. Niketan on failing to find a partner was made the House Captain. Nominations took place and housemates nominated as their respective pairs. Consequently Aseem, Dinesh, Karishma, Sapna, Sana and Sampat were nominated. In a dance-off Sana was declared the winner by Niketan. Accordingly she and her partner Sampat's nominations were void. Karishma, for being nominated, in the first week got upset worrying over the fact that the audience is unaware of her existence in the Indian fashion industry and she might end up going home. Sapna protested against the dancing competition quoting it to be obscene. Day 2: Kashif calls Karishma a fresh fruit from the garden of Eden which ignites a heated debate between him and Sapna. Other housemates intervene only to favor Sapna. The luxury budget task is introduced. Sidhu and Rajeev bond and Sidhu promises him a get-back with Delnaaz. Urvashi and Kashif get into an infuriating conversation over Kashif's morals as a common man where Urvashi modestly confronts him saying that she is as common as any man of India. Niketan's birthday is celebrated with confetti and cakes provided by the Bigg Boss. Day 3: Kashif keeps complimenting Karishma repeatedly which irritates some housemates. Sana discusses her controversial Amul Macho advert and terms Indian women as hypocrites. The luxury budget points are awarded. Following differences of opinions, housemates are seen fighting over Coffee, Papaya and Brown bread. Rajeev opens up about his marriage life with Sidhu and is assured that Delnaaz will reconsider her past nuptial bond with Rajeev. While sitting in the garden Vrajesh hears a fish from the big aquarium talking to him and is later given a secret task via the same. Day 4: Sidhu was punished for making the least contribution in the luxury budget task and was seen to have happily accepted his fate enjoying his time in the kitchen while making food for all housemates. Upholding his promise to Rajeev, Sidhu tries to convince Aashka and Vrajesh to help him get Rajeev and Delnaaz back together. Sampat and Vrajesh end up in a conflict when Vrajesh seemed to dislike Sampat's boastful jokes. In the evening Sidhu is seen performing bhangra with the female housemates as a part of the punishment given by Bigg Boss. Urvashi and Niketan decide to ignore Kashif for his careless participation in house chores. Day 5: Sapna gives Dinesh and Aseem haircuts which are liked by all. During lunch first the rotis fall short and then Niketan reprimands Kashif for not taking care of his assigned duties. The latter escalates into an ugly scene in which Kashif threatens Niketan and Sapna. The Bigg Boss calls Kashif to the confession room after which Kashif apologizes to everyone. Later the host, Salman Khan, lectures Kashif on how to deal with anger. He also indicates that Rajeev is getting too touchy-feely, but praises Sidhu's calming influence on the housemates. Salman ends his video meeting with the announcement of Dinesh's eviction.

	Post nominations	Dinesh, Karishma and Sana participated in a dance-off. As House Captain Niketan was given a chance to save a nominated pair from eviction this week based on the performance given by one of the members from the pair. He chose Sana & Sampat, hence, their nominations were revoked.
	Punishments	Sidhu being nominated as the housemate who made the least contribution in the task by the captain Niketan received punishment for his actions. He had to cook for the entire house and perform bhangra dance wherein all the women in the house will join him.
	Exits	Day 6: Dinesh Lal Yadav was evicted from the house after facing the public vote.
Week 2
	Task	Vrajesh has to dictate like Bigg Boss and his orders shall not be turned down.
	Happenings	Day 6-7: After Dinesh's eviction, all housemates expect Sidhu nominated two of their fellow housemates. Sidhu refused to vote when called into the confession room, therefore, as punishment Bigg Boss nominated all housemates. This created conflicts among housemates and resulted in protests against Bigg Boss. Rajeev, Niketan and Vrajesh were the visible leaders of the dissent and were seen arguing with Sidhu over his apparent morals. Urvashi and Sapna supported Sidhu on listening to his inner voice. Later, Sidhu was asked to reconsider nominating two housemates. Nominations concluded when Sidhu contemplated on giving the two names. Consequently Sampat, Kashif and Rajeev were nominated to face the public vote. In a dance-off Sampat was declared the winner by a majority vote from all housemates except the nominees and her nomination was revoked. Day 8: Sidhu and Sapna get into an intense and emotional conversation about her tattoos. Sapna explains to Sidhu that each tattoo on her body depicts a phase in her life. Sidhu veers to talk about his cricket days and recalls his first playing experience with the Sachin Tendulkar. All ladies except for Sapna and Karishma wear Dastars and join Sidhu while he hums the famous Bollywood song Singh is Kingg. A competition is set up for the housemates where the winner will be crowned the new caption of the house. Vrajesh wins and replaces Niketan as the new House Captain.

	Punishments	Rajeev, for being chosen by Vrajesh to have been the least contributing member in the luxury budget task, was told to cook all meals of the day for housemates and manage the kitchen on his own. Though he was allowed to choose one male housemate who would assist him. He chose Aseem.

	Happenings	Day 13-14: Sidhu gathers support of all housemates for his No-nomination stand. However it is revealed that housemates will be nominating to save this week. Rajeev, Sana, Sayantani and Urvashi after getting zero save votes were put up for eviction. Post nominations, Sana is upset about the fact that Karishma did not vote for her otherwise she would not have been on the chopping block. Sana later wins a majority vote by entertaining her fellow housemates with her dance performance. Consequently her nomination was annulled. Sidhu's birthday is celebrated and Vrajesh and Sapna play a prank on Aseem.

	Post nominations	Rajeev, Sana, Sayantani and Urvashi participated in an entertainment contest. While Sana and Sayantani presented dance routines. Rajeev and Urvashi impersoanated each other in their egg fight flashback. Housemates were told to rank the performances. After an anonymous vote Sana was spared from eviction that week garnering the majority of points from the housemates.

Week 4
	Task	Housemates have to act like politicians and form two parties under two leaders who will have to convince members of the opposing party to form alliance with theirs.

	Post nominations	Delnaaz as captain was asked to save one nominated housemate from week 4's eviction. She chose Sidhu therefore his nomination was revoked.
	Punishments	As punishment for talking while covering the microphones, Karishma and Sapna were nominated for eviction. When called into the confession room and asked to name their favorite housemate. Karishma named Sidhu while Sapna chose Aseem. Therefore Aseem and Sidhu were also nominated.
	Exits	Day 25: Karishma Kotak voluntarily exited the house after she received the news of her father's demise. Day 27: Aseem Trivedi was evicted from the house after facing the public vote.

3	22 October 2012 (Day 15)	Housemates are divided as Masters and Slaves. • ^1 Housemates were grouped into sevens pairs. Niketan, for not being chosen by any housemate to form a pair, was made the House captain. Each pair nominated another pair with consensus when called into the confession room. Vote against a pair added one vote against each individual in the respective pair.

Controversy

• Soon after the entry of Kashif Qureshi, a common man chosen via auditions held across India, as an inmate of the house the whole exercise of selecting an unknown person to be part of Bigg Boss seemed to have come into question and has been reportedly a planned one. After Kashif was selected from the three short-listed hopefuls to enter the house the media scrutinized every detail that linked to Kashif's background. Unexpectedly Qureshi was found to personally know Salman Khan since he was shooting Wanted.

• RPI leader Ramdas Athawale and members demanded the eviction of controversial cartoonist Aseem Trivedi. They want him to be evicted from the show by October 28 or they will "storm the house". Athawale had objected to Colors including Trivedi in the reality show 'Bigg Boss', alleging that he had insulted various symbols of India and denigrated the Constitution. The marchers gathered from various parts of the state, including Mumbai, Thane, Nashik and Pune.

• RPI leader Ramdas Athawale and members objected cartoonist Aseem Trivedi's stay in the house warning the Bigg Boss team of their imminent uproar. With a meeting with Colors executives it was revealed that Aseem would be evicted from the house on Friday and this has, hence, been the reason for introducing double eviction for week four, a first in Bigg Boss history. On 31 October two men were witnessed pelting stones at the channel's headquarters to stress the fulfillment of their demand. This has been, in turn, widely covered by the media as the main reason for Trivedi's ouster from the show.
• Following similar controversies from season 5 Salman Khan was again accused of being condescending towards specific housemates. Sapna Bhavnani who got into a verbal spat with Khan, on week 3's eviction night, was reported calling him a "serial woman beater" in the footage which was edited before airing. On the night of Aseem Trivedi's exit from the house Sapna refused to communicate with Khan. When Khan was seen questioning Sapna's morals Navjot Singh Sidhu and a few other housemates favored Sapna over Khan resulting in a heated debate over the topic. Trivedi who was interviewed by Khan a night later on Sunday claimed that Khan was purposely interrogating him with questions that targeted Bhavnani indirectly. He also impeached Khan's credibility as a neutral host highlighting his on-screen demeanor towards housemates which he personally dislikes.
