Some video suggests the plane ditched at sea but drifted to the island which makes no sense, so I put in "landed" to ascertain that is the general belief. The Gardner Island hypothesis summary is at least vaguely possible, unlike the Japanese capture hypothesis. The general view that TIGHAR's theory is some variant of "unconvincing speculation" is fine, but it's not a conspiracy theory. undo

Having re-read the book "Finding Amelia", it seems that the idea the plane landed on another atoll was considered seriously be the search team back in 1937. It was initially refuted when all the islands were checked, until the Gardner Island theory came into being, due to "signs of recent habitation". Replace with image of Earhart and Noonan to remind that Noonan was a missing person too undo
